The Frisco Women’s League has raised more than $30,500 for charity with the success of its signature event, the Mother and Daughter Tea.

Kenna’s Kids, a 501(c) (3) non-profit that provides support to families with children who are experiencing medical challenges at a young age, is this year’s selected beneficiary.

Matt Kucholtz of Kenna’s Kids said: “As we were listening to each of the six new beneficiary families speak one last time at Kenna’s Cup, I began to think, had we promised too much this year by electing six families? Four was the most we had ever committed to in the past. Would this be the first year we would struggle to meet the beneficiaries’ requests? Then FWL unveiled the amount of their donation. We looked around at each other, wiped away a few tears and took a breath. With the help of Frisco Women’s League and the entire Kenna’s Kids donor family, we can and we will help all six of those families.”

The “Tea in the NYC” themed event, which celebrated the style and energy of New York City welcomed guests at the Embassy Suites on May 10. Mothers, daughters, grandmothers, aunts and friends dressed in festive tea fashions, enjoyed lunch and activities including a silent auction, children’s raffle, children’s crafts, a candy buffet, a Mother and Daughter style show and a hat contest.  Rebecca Lopez of WFAA’s Channel 8 served as honorary chair of the Tea, welcoming guests and sharing personal experiences.

Tea Chair Jenn Knutson said: “Working on this year’s Tea has been an phenomenal experience. I was able to work with a great group of ladies who made time in their busy lives for an amazing beneficiary. The best part of the Tea was presenting our donation to Kenna’s Kids at their awards dinner for their 7^th Annual Kenna’s Cup golf tournament. It was hard to hold back tears sharing the total knowing what a huge impact this donation is going to have on the Kenna’s Kids families”.

Frisco Women’s League is a not for profit organization dedicated to supporting and enriching the city of Frisco and its neighboring communities. League members have given thousands of volunteer service hours to local charities and events since the league’s inception.

Since 2009, Frisco Women’s League has raised more than $267,500 for local charities, including: Kenna’s Kids (kennaskids.org), Sci-Tech Discovery Center, Hope Park, City House and Heroes for Children.
