1. McKinney, TX

This Dallas-area town of almost 150,000 citizens used consistency to climb to the top of our list. McKinney was the only city to rank in the top 100 in all five categories. It is also a city that is growing at a rapid pace, having almost tripled in size in the last 25 years. It is easy to see why, as they ranked 15th in the public schools category, and 19th in average annual income.

2. Amarillo, TX

The biggest city in the Texas Panhandle, Amarillo had one of the lowest costs of living of any city in the top ten, ranking 12th in that category. And if you were looking for something fancy to put as the cover photo of your joint Facebook profile, we can’t think of a much better setting than this.

3. Olathe, KS

Located on the Eastern side of Kansas, Olathe is another city that is growing very fast. Given the public school ranking, 29th, and the average annual income, 30th, it makes sense that the town near Kansas City is rapidly becoming one of the best places to live in the country.

4. Plano, TX

It is the corporate headquarters for many nationally recognized companies, which in turn makes it easy to believe Plano ranking fourth on this list. Because of these prominent businesses, the city came in 11th for average annual income. Also worth noting is its ranking of sixth in number of married couples.

5. Overland Park, KS

Refusing to be outdone by their next door neighbor Olathe, Overland Park made its way to the top five of our list. This Kansas City suburb had the highest percentage of their population that are married couples, ranking fourth in that category. They also ranked fifth in public schools.

6. McAllen, TX

A city known as the “Texas Tropics” certainly sounds like a nice place to start married life. McAllen was by far the best of any city in the top ten in cost of living, ranking third in that category. They also ranked 22nd in the average price of a home.

7. Lincoln, NE

As the only college town to make the list, Lincoln can certainly be a great city for young newlywed couples to make their start. The city may not have cracked the top 30 in any category, but they also didn’t rank especially low either. They ranked 33rd in married couples, and 37th in public schools.

8. Pasadena, CA

Of course Pasadena finds itself on this list; what could be more romantic than the City of Roses? Guys no matter how many times you get in trouble, you’ll never run out of flowers. But beyond that, the city ranked 13th in cost of living, and 19th in the average price of a home.

9. Frisco, TX

The fifth Texas city – and third in the Dallas area – to make the top ten, Frisco was the only city in the top ten to rank third or better in two different categories. Average annual income and public schools are certainly two great categories in which to achieve that.

10. Peoria, AZ

There’s no sport more romantic than baseball, and Peoria is the spring training home of a couple of major league teams. It’s also home to many married couples, as the city ranked 15th in that category. They also ranked 25th in public schools.
