#AUP Congrats Allen knocks off Killeen Ellison in Boys Basketball Playoffs

Italy, Texas: Allen, led by seniors Jaylon Scott, Jerritt Dixon and Jaylen Walker, beat the Killeen Ellison Eagles, 65-54, Tuesday night in the Boys Basketball playoffs.

Scott pulled down 17 rebounds and scored 20 points in the regional quarterfinal win in the cool Class 2A Italy ISD Multipurpose Center down I-35 between Waco and Dallas-Fort Worth.

Nine of Scott’s points came at the free-throw line. Allen made 15 free throws in a row and ended up scoring 28 points at the free-throw line on the neutral court on 34 attempts.

Dixon scored 11 points, and Walker pumped in 10 points.

Walker came down with five rebounds. Dixon shipped out six assists.

Six of Scott’s key rebounds came on offense.

Allen made a run in the second quarter to take a 34-27 lead into halftime.

Isaiah Stevens and Donovan Parham each scored eight points for Allen. Korey Jones contributed five points. Brenton Mills had three.

Chandler Sutton led Ellison with 15 points.

Ellison (32-5) had won eight straight games before falling to the Allen Eagles. Allen, coached by Jeff McCullough, has now won eight in a row.

The Allen Eagles (31-5) move on to play North Crowley (31-5) in the Regional Tournament at Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center (off I-20) on the Coach Robert Hughes basketball court at 6 p.m. on Friday in Fort Worth, Texas.

Afterward, Odessa Permian takes on Denton Guyer in the other regional semifinal Friday night.

The boys regional final will be played in Fort Worth on Saturday.

Allen has made the regional semifinals four times in five seasons.
