Temporary road closures on U.S. 380

COLLIN COUNTY – Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will temporarily close lanes on one mile of U.S. 380 in Farmersville from Tuesday, Jan. 26 thru Friday, Jan. 29.

The temporary closures will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. avoiding rush hour traffic. During the closures, crews will repair the existing pavement; filling pot holes, milling and resurfacing as part of phase one of the U.S. 380 widening project.

Message boards have been placed to alert the traveling public.

Because U.S. 380 is only two lanes wide at this location, traffic will be stopped in each direction, and alternated while opposing traffic travels thru the construction zone. Motorists can expect delays up to 20 minutes depending on traffic volumes.

This project will widen seven miles of U.S. 380 from a 2-lane, rural highway to a 4-lane, divided highway. The $55.8 million project extends from Lavon Lake east through the City of Farmersville to the Collin/Hunt County Line.

Contractor Texas Sterling started construction of the first three miles (phase one) in November.

This section of U.S. 380, also known as Audie Murphy Parkway, is expected to be complete and open to traffic by the end of 2012.

TxDOT would like to thank area drivers, local businesses, the City of Farmersville, and Collin County for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this project as soon, and as safely, as possible.
