DART rider costs rising, fares could cost you 20 percent more

DART is changing fare options and payment system beginning Saturday, Aug. 18.
Get ready to pay more. Be alert for a 20 percent across-the-board fare increase (except the Mid-day pass). Single-ride fare for bus service is being re-introduced at $2.50 (the price of a 2-hour pass today).
Weekly passes are going away. Reduced fare for high school students is expanding to include the weekend.
Mid-day pass will be available on weekends, too.
The  GoPass app is improving and  GoPassTap,  a reloadable transit card, is being added. These are part of a new account-based payment system which gives you flexibility to add money to your DART account in three different ways:
  • Visit hundreds of retail locations with cash or credit,
  • Go online to the DART Store, or
  • Call DART customer service
