Hopes for shaved ice melting away on week of 100-plus degree days as Sugar Mountain announces end of era in Plano TX for snow cones at Parker Road and Alma

Fans of Sugar Mountain in Plano received news Saturday night via social media that their long-time favorite location for snow cones and shaved ice would be closing.

In Plano, Texas, the weather temperatures have hit 100 to 109 degrees in July, and the heat wave is expected to last through the remaining days of July, making the loss of Sugar Mountain even more troubling for so many families who made a tradition of dropping by Sugar Mountain to chill out.

It is notable that Plano also recently lost another snow cone location west of here as a tire store is taking that spot on Spring Creek and Coit where the car wash was near Walmart.

Get to Sugar Mountain at 909 West Parker Road east of Alma Drive in the old 24-hour fitness shopping strip next to Austin Avenue Grill and Sports Bar and Burger Street.
