Police say a woman strangled her granddaughter after accusing her of stealing drugs

A Louisiana woman, 62-year-old Margo Lynn Pattum, was arrested after allegedly attacking her granddaughter over accusations of stealing methamphetamine. Police found a significant amount of drugs and firearms at her home, leading to multiple charges against Pattum.

The arrest took place after Jennings Police responded to a call on Thursday when Pattum’s granddaughter, a juvenile, reported that her grandmother had attacked her. According to the granddaughter, Pattum strangled her because she believed the girl had stolen her methamphetamine.

This violent act prompted the police to investigate further, and they soon obtained a search warrant for Pattum’s home.

Upon searching the residence, police uncovered a wide array of narcotics, including methamphetamine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and various pills. In addition, officers found three firearms, one of which had been reported stolen. During the search, Pattum was found in possession of a container with crack cocaine.

While being transported to jail, Pattum allegedly continued her criminal actions. Police say she attempted to discard a container containing suspected crack cocaine behind the transport seat in the vehicle. This additional act of obstruction only worsened her situation.
