A cold case suspect has been apprehended in Houston for the 2017 murder in La Marque, according to the police

A man has been arrested in connection with a murder that took place more than seven years ago in La Marque, Texas.

John Carter was taken into custody in Houston last Wednesday, facing charges related to the shooting death of Steve Hollins in 2017.

Investigators believe Carter and Hollins were in the process of robbing someone for money when the incident occurred. During the robbery, Hollins was fatally shot, and Carter fled from the scene.

Deputy Chief Waggoner released the following statement, urging the community’s continued support in solving cold cases. Authorities hope the arrest will bring some closure to the family of the victim and the people of La Marque.

The investigation into the case is ongoing as officials work to gather further evidence and clarify the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
