Plano TX – We are going to miss you Jim Dunlap

Retired teacher Jim Dunlap, who connected with Plano kids for more than three decades by teaching lessons with animals, has passed away.

Steve Stoler, director of media relations for the City of Plano, said: “We are heartbroken. Today we lost a Plano legend. Jim Dunlap was a wonderful person and meant so much to so many people. He had three big loves in his life: children, animals and especially his family and late wife Peggy. I have so many fond memories with Jim.

“When I was a reporter, my favorite stories always centered on Jim and his animals at the PISD Outdoor Learning Center. He was so funny and compassionate. I am so proud to have had Jim in my life as a dear friend. His students, staff and friends adored him. Everyone who met Jim loved him. He had that affect on people. Who can forget Jim’s giant Burmese Python Katy. It was his favorite teaching tool. Jim once figured more than 100-thousand PISD students met Katy over three decades. The world just isn’t as bright today because Jim isn’t with us any more. We will always love you and you will live in our hearts and memories. Rest in Peace dear friend.
