Plano TX adding to its Legacy lineup of corporate headquarters as Boeing Global Services announces move

Boeing has selected a site in Plano, Texas, for the headquarters of its new Global Services business unit, which will be operational in July.

Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere said, “On behalf of the city of Plano, we are thrilled to welcome an iconic 100-year- innovative company like Boeing. Through the partnership with our city and the many amenities of Legacy West, we look forward to helping Boeing Global Services deliver on its mission.”

Boeing Global Services headquarters will be located in the Legacy West mixed- use development in northwest Plano, the company announced on PRNewswire on Wednesday afternoon.

Boeing Global Services President and CEO Stan Deal, several of his leadership team members and some support staff will be situated at the site, which will serve as a central hub for approximately 20,000 employees located around the globe.

Texas continues to be a global powerhouse in business expansion and relocation because of our economic policies that encourage industry leaders, like Boeing, to expand their operations here,” said Texas Governor Greg Abbott. “As governor, I will continue to promote a low-tax and reasonable regulatory environment that removes barriers to entry and provides certainty for developing industries. I am proud to welcome Boeing’s new Global Services unit to Texas and look forward to working with them further to continue their expansion in the Lone Star State.”

Boeing selected the greater Dallas area because it’s centrally located within Boeing’s U.S. footprint, has good proximity to major operations for commercial customers and defense partners, and serves as a transportation hub that will allow the company to reach customers quickly and efficiently.

Deal, a veteran Boeing exec, said, “We are excited to establish the Global Services headquarters in Plano. We have a fixed focus on serving our customers worldwide, and this location assists in our mission of providing uncompromising service worldwide.”

Boeing will host an opening ceremony at the new location once Boeing Global Services is operational in July.

In November 2016, Boeing announced the Deal would be leading Global Services, which will be formed by integrating the services capabilities of the defense, space and commercial sectors into a single, customer-focused business. Operating as a third business unit of Boeing, Global Services will provide agile, cost-competitive services to commercial and defense customers worldwide.

Volunteer for Food 4 Kids Plano

By Harry LaRosiliere, Plano Mayor
Image
Mayor Harry LaRosiliere: You can assist with this program by volunteering later this fall with a canned food drive in September, assembly of holiday boxes in October, and a Thanksgiving turkey drive in November.

The Food 4 Kids Plano program is a collaborative effort between the North Texas Food Bank, the Plano Independent School District, and other partners in our community. This shared vision brings us together to not only feed children for weekends, but to nourish and inspire them for a lifetime. Although hunger is not visible to many in our community, the reality is that we have children who go hungry on weekends. This program addresses that concern.

The Food 4 Kids Plano program provides backpacks full of non-perishable, kid-friendly food for them to take home on Friday afternoons. Children take home the backpacks and return them on Monday so they can be filled again for the next weekend. It costs approximately $5 to fill each backpack with enough food to provide for about 60 percent of the child’s weekend nutritional needs.

Plano is a caring community. Council Members and I believe community engagement is one of the cornerstones of our city’s success, and is what makes Plano the City of Excellence. I can’t think of a better reason to come together than to end hunger. Our community partners include local companies, faith-based groups, and citizens who use their time, energy and compassion to rally around our youth so they can perform well academically.

Mother Teresa once said: “The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.” The goal of this program is to address both needs.

You can assist with this program by volunteering later this fall with a canned food drive in September, assembly of holiday boxes in October, and a Thanksgiving turkey drive in November.

For updates on this program and other Council activities, please visit Facebook at Office of the Mayor and City Council, Twitter @PlanosMayor and read the Plano City News.

Please join us in rallying around this important initiative!
