Frisco ISD Reedy High School’s Vivek Kogilathota earned the Grand Prize Award in the Senior Life division at the Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
Kogilathota won first place in his category before all category winners went through another round of judging.
Frisco ISD sent 86 middle school and 14 high school projects to the annual Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair (DRSEF). The 100 projects were presented at Centennial Hall at Fair Park near downtown Dallas.
Kogilathota’s project “DyslexAI: A Novel Approach for Dyslexia Diagnosis and Therapy Using A Computer Webcam via Machine Learning” was recognized as the best of the best in this final round.
Kogilathota advanced to the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Anaheim, California.
Students who earned a 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize have advanced to the Texas State Science Engineering and Science Fair at Texas A&M University in College Station. The fair includes more than 20 categories spanning engineering, biological sciences and physical sciences. Winning high school entries advanced to ISEF.
Frisco ISD student projects covered a myriad of topic from “Natural Electricity” to “A Novel Communication System for Stroke Survivors Using an Electronic Glove.”
Frisco ISD students went home with a number of awards for innovative projects. More than 40 percent of the Frisco ISD middle school projects and 70 percent of the high school projects received awards.
