BIN to air a unique Juneteenth program highlighting freedom and progress

In honor of Juneteenth, the Black Information Network (BIN) will air a special edition of its public affairs program, The Black Perspective. The one-hour show, titled Juneteenth: A Celebration of Freedom and Progress, will be broadcast on Thursday, June 19, at 11:00 a.m. ET and 7:00 p.m. ET. It will be available on all 24/7 BIN terrestrial stations as well as streaming platforms.

The program will be hosted by BIN Managing Editor, Mike Stevens. It will feature in-depth interviews and thoughtful discussions that explore the historical importance of Juneteenth.

Viewers will hear about the lasting impact of emancipation, the ongoing fight for justice and equity, and the progress made since freedom was first declared in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865.

A Rich History of Juneteenth

Juneteenth holds deep significance in American history. It marks the day when enslaved people in Texas were finally informed of their freedom, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

This broadcast is dedicated to remembering that moment and honoring the generations of Black Americans who have continued to fight for equality and justice.
