A Florida man with a violent past was arrested after allegedly attacking a pregnant woman during a heated argument “over noodles and her attitude,” police said.
The Arrest and Charges
Jonathan Webster, 38, was arrested on August 14 in Port Charlotte, Florida. According to his arrest affidavit, he faces multiple charges, including:
Aggravated battery of a pregnant woman
Domestic battery by strangulation
Tampering with a witness
Resisting an officer without violence
Fugitive from justice
Webster, who is currently on probation for manslaughter, allegedly tried to run away before deputies caught him.
Dispute Turns Violent
Police say Webster and the victim, an expectant mother, got into a fight in the kitchen of a home they had just moved into with family.
The woman told police the argument began over noodles and her “attitude.” She said Webster pressed his fingers against her head while yelling, then pulled her hair with both hands. Family members tried to break it up, but Webster allegedly broke free, grabbed the woman by the hair again, and dragged her into the hallway.
She grabbed a knife to defend herself, which briefly stopped him. But as she tried to reach her bedroom, Webster allegedly put her in a headlock chokehold for 30 seconds, causing her to lose consciousness.
“Better not get up,” Webster reportedly told her.
Threats and 911 Call
The victim told police Webster then mentioned grabbing a gun. Though she thought she saw him with a handgun, she couldn’t describe it in detail and said he never pointed it at her.
When the woman called 911, Webster allegedly chased her outside, yanked her hair again, and smashed her phone to the ground while she was on the call.
Deputies arrived shortly after and found Webster allegedly pulling the woman’s hair in the street. They ordered him to stop, and he complied.
History of Violence
Police said Webster’s violent history includes a manslaughter conviction in Louisiana, for which he is still on probation. He was arrested using K-9 units and multiple deputies after initially fleeing on foot.
Webster is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment on September 22.
This shocking case shows how a minor argument spiraled into a dangerous attack on a pregnant woman. With his violent past and current charges, Jonathan Webster could face serious prison time. Authorities are treating the case as a severe domestic violence incident.
