Riverton, Wyo. – Extreme heat is gripping central Wyoming Wednesday, with Riverton expected to reach 100°F, marking one of the hottest days of the summer. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours as temperatures soar.

Winds Light but Storms on the Horizon

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, winds will remain light Wednesday, shifting from west to east as the evening cools to the lower 60s.

The dry conditions will break Thursday night, with a 10% chance of showers and thunderstorms, which will expand into Friday and the weekend, bringing more widespread storm chances.

Slight Heat Relief by Friday

The heat will ease slightly on Friday, with highs in the mid-80s. Storms could bring gusts up to 22 mph, particularly across Fremont County and along U.S. Highway 26.
