According to CBS Sports, the Aggies have been named one of the “best bets” to make the 12-team playoff this season, alongside other top teams like Clemson, BYU, Washington, and Tennessee.
Aggies’ Optimism for the Upcoming Season
At +245 odds, Texas A&M stands out as a team that could provide the best value for playoff predictions. While there is some uncertainty around the Aggies’ quarterback situation with Marcel Reed, there’s optimism for his development. A full offseason to prepare as the starting quarterback, combined with the experience he gained last season, could set him up for success.
Strong Running Game and Solid Defense
What stands out most about the Aggies, according to CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli, is their strength at running back. The team is stacked in the backfield, and when paired with Reed, their rushing attack is expected to be a major strength. Another key factor is the defense, led by Mike Elko. Elko’s defenses have a strong track record, and his leadership should ensure the Aggies’ defense remains one of the best in the country.
Upgraded Receiving Corps for Aggies’ Offense

After a standout season at NC State, where he was named a second-team All-ACC player and earned the Rookie of the Year Award in 2023, Concepcion totaled 839 yards and 10 touchdowns. Despite a drop in production last season due to inconsistent quarterback play, he still managed 460 yards and six touchdowns, showcasing his potential.
