Woman accused of threatening and shooting her ex-husband before fleeing from police

A domestic dispute in Seabrook, Texas, turned violent on Tuesday evening, leading to gunfire, a high-speed chase, and multiple felony charges for 53-year-old Gena Weeks. The confrontation, which escalated rapidly, left Weeks injured and facing serious charges. The details of the incident have raised concerns about domestic violence and its dangerous consequences.

The Violent Confrontation

The incident began just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday when Gena Weeks arrived at her ex-husband’s home on Lake Mija Court. Weeks, armed with a gun and a list of demands, forced her way inside, according to investigators. Court records allege that she had been trying to rekindle their relationship but was met with rejection.

Her actions quickly escalated when, at gunpoint, she allegedly made her ex-husband call his current girlfriend and arrange a meeting for drinks. She reportedly told them her plan to kill both of them and then take her own life.

A porch camera recorded a portion of the confrontation, showing Weeks’ ex-husband pleading for his life, saying, “We have babies, please no.” Despite the terrifying situation, the man managed to distract Weeks long enough to grab his own firearm. In court, a magistrate described what happened next: “You supposedly start shooting at him. He shoots at you. He says you shot at him at least five times.”

The High-Speed Chase

After the exchange of gunfire, Weeks fled the scene in a black Cadillac, driving at high speeds of up to 90 miles per hour through the neighborhood. The Seabrook police quickly called for backup and attempted to intercept her vehicle.

Officers were concerned about the dangerous situation, and a radio transmission revealed their urgency: “Can you contact other districts? See if they can meet us and intercept this vehicle.”

Weeks didn’t make it far. About a mile and a half away, she crashed her vehicle, and officers found her in a state of distress. She smelled of alcohol, and open containers were found inside the car. In addition, she had been shot in the abdomen during the earlier exchange of gunfire.

Arrest and Charges

After being treated at the hospital for her gunshot wound, Weeks was booked into jail. She now faces multiple serious charges, including evading arrest, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated kidnapping. The situation has shocked the community, as it reveals the extreme danger of a domestic dispute that spiraled out of control.

Weeks has a criminal record, with a previous misdemeanor charge for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Court records also show that she and her ex-husband finalized their divorce six years ago, further illustrating the long-standing tensions between the two.

What began as a domestic dispute has escalated into a violent confrontation, leaving Gena Weeks facing multiple felony charges. The case underscores the dangers of unresolved emotional distress and domestic violence, highlighting how such situations can quickly spiral into life-threatening circumstances.

As Weeks now faces the legal consequences of her actions, the community is left to reflect on the impact of domestic violence and the importance of addressing such issues before they escalate to this extent.
