Joseph Antonsen, a father from Picture Rocks, Arizona, was sentenced by Pima County Superior Judge Kimberly Ortiz on Friday. He will serve the maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, followed by 20 years of probation. Antonsen had pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse in connection with the tragic death of his son.
The boy’s decomposing remains were discovered on July 14, 2024, when authorities responded to a 911 call placed by Antonsen. He reported that his son had become ill two days earlier and later found him unresponsive.
