A shocking case from Louisville, Kentucky, has taken a serious turn as two men were officially indicted for their role in a gruesome murder that happened in October 2024. The case began when a dead body, wrapped in sheets and tape, was found dumped at a busy street intersection.
What Happened in October 2024?
On October 20, 2024, police found the body of 34-year-old Mitchell Jackson at the intersection of 18th Street and West Muhammad Ali Boulevard in Louisville. The body was wrapped in duct tape and sheets, making the discovery even more disturbing. The police later confirmed that Jackson died from gunshot wounds.
Who Are the Accused?
The Louisville police have identified and arrested two suspects in this case — Chadwick Fleming, 35, and Davone Collins, 26. A grand jury has now indicted both men based on the evidence collected by investigators.
Chadwick Fleming’s Shocking Actions
Fleming was arrested five days after the body was found. According to the arrest documents, the body had been tied with zip ties and wrapped in garbage bags and duct tape. Police allege that Fleming tied the body to the back of an SUV and dragged it along the road.
At one point, the body got detached, and video footage reportedly shows Fleming trying and failing to put the body back into the SUV. In the end, he is seen dumping the body at the intersection.
He was initially charged with tampering with evidence and abusing a corpse. However, following the grand jury’s review, he is now also charged with murder. Fleming is being held at the Louisville Metropolitan Detention Center with a bond set at $100,000.
Davone Collins Also Indicted
The second suspect, Davone Collins, was also arrested and indicted. He faces charges similar to Fleming, including tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
However, police have not shared details about his specific involvement or his relationship with Fleming. He was taken into custody peacefully and is also being held at the same detention center.
