Firefighters in Texas City came to the rescue of a sea turtle earlier this week after it was found struggling to swim near the Texas City Dike. The turtle, tangled in fishing line and with a hook stuck under one of its flippers, needed urgent help, and firefighters quickly responded to assist.

Discovery and Response

Visitors at the Texas City Dike noticed the injured turtle in the water, but they were unable to reach it. Concerned for its well-being, they contacted the Texas City Fire Department for help. The firefighters quickly sprang into action, scaling the large rocks along the dike and wading into the water to reach the creature.

The Rescue

Upon reaching the turtle, the firefighters discovered that it was entangled in fishing line, with a hook lodged under its flipper. After carefully freeing the turtle from the fishing line, the team carried the creature back to shore.

Recovery and Care

Once safely on land, the sea turtle was transported to a recovery center in Galveston, where wildlife experts are providing care. According to firefighters, the turtle is expected to make a full recovery and hopefully return to its natural habitat in the near future.

Thanks to the quick actions of the Texas City Fire Department and the concerned visitors, the injured turtle received the care it needed. With ongoing treatment, the turtle is on its way to a full recovery, showing how teamwork and compassion can make a difference in animal rescue efforts.
