A 30-year-old mother from Tennessee, Keosha Vester, has been arrested after allegedly shooting her child’s father while their son was in the same room.
The incident occurred in Memphis on July 12, 2025, and Vester faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with domestic violence, reckless endangerment, and violation of bond conditions. This is not the first time Vester has been involved in a violent altercation with the same man.
The Incident and Arrest
According to the Memphis Police Department, officers responded to a call about a potential domestic violence assault at a home on Marechalneil Street. When they arrived, a witness informed them that he had allowed a woman into the home who later was identified as Keosha Vester.
The witness reportedly heard multiple gunshots shortly after showing her into the victim’s room and immediately called the police.
Upon entering the room, officers found the victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound. He identified Vester, his child’s mother, as the shooter. Vester had allegedly shot him in front of their son.
The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Authorities also discovered the child inside the room during the assault, adding to the severity of the situation.
Police quickly located Vester walking a few blocks from the scene and arrested her. She was found in possession of a handgun, a knife, and a large brick inside her purse. In an interview with the police, Vester reportedly admitted to the shooting, explaining that after an argument with the victim, she “pulled the trigger.”
Vester’s History of Domestic Violence
This shooting is not the first violent incident involving Vester and her child’s father. In February 2025, Vester was arrested for domestic assault against the same man, which also occurred in front of their son.
According to police reports, Vester became enraged when the victim was returning their son home. She allegedly attacked him, and the incident was captured on video, showing her making threats and striking the victim as he tried to escape her attack.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Vester has been charged with one count each of aggravated assault with domestic violence, reckless endangerment, and violation of bond conditions. She is being held in the Shelby County Jail with a $100,000 bond. Vester is scheduled for a court appearance on July 28, 2025.
The violent altercations and the impact on the child have drawn widespread attention, and authorities are continuing to investigate the case.
This disturbing incident highlights the dangers of domestic violence and its effects on children. Vester’s history of violent behavior and the traumatic experience for the child has prompted local authorities to ensure the safety of the young victim and to pursue appropriate legal action.
