A 33-year-old man, Seth Harris, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the fentanyl overdose death of a young mother in Bacliff, Texas, earlier this year, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
The Tragic Incident
On May 13, 2025, deputies were called to a residence in Bacliff where 26-year-old Crista Carlin was found unresponsive by her 5-year-old son. Despite efforts to revive her, Carlin was later declared dead.
A toxicology report revealed the presence of fentanyl-laced narcotics in her system, leading to the suspicion of a drug overdose.
Investigation and Arrest
The Major Crimes Unit launched an investigation and identified Seth Harris as the person who allegedly supplied the fentanyl-laced drugs to Carlin. As a result, the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges of Murder and Tampering with Evidence against Harris. His bond was set at $350,000.
On July 7, 2025, law enforcement officers from the Galveston County SWAT Team executed an arrest warrant at the WoodSpring Suites Hotel in Texas City, where Harris was staying. During the arrest, detectives also obtained a search warrant for Harris’s hotel room, resulting in the seizure of additional narcotics.
