A 34-year-old woman from Florida, Jessica Reno, has recently been arrested after law enforcement discovered syringes and fentanyl hidden in a surprising location. Reno was initially stopped for a traffic violation, but what followed led to her facing serious criminal charges, including drug possession and smuggling.
The Traffic Stop
On June 15, Jessica Reno was pulled over by a Flagler County deputy after officers noticed a mismatched license plate on her vehicle. The plate was originally meant for a Ford car but was on her Chevrolet pick-up truck. Additionally, her seatbelt was not properly secured, which raised further suspicion.
The deputy observed that Reno did not immediately stop when the emergency lights and sirens were activated. Instead, she continued driving for about 30 seconds before pulling over, despite having several safe spots to stop.
When the officer approached her vehicle, Reno explained that she was on the phone with her daughter, which is why she delayed stopping.
Further questioning revealed that Reno did not have a valid driver’s license and was aware of her suspended license status, with a pending court date regarding it. The traffic stop confirmed other violations, including driving with expired registration and no insurance.
Discovery of Drugs
After Reno was arrested for the driving-related charges, a female deputy conducted a search. During this process, a black sock was found tucked into Reno’s vaginal cavity. Inside the sock were six syringes and a bag of white powder. Reno later admitted that the powder was fentanyl, a powerful opioid drug.
This discovery turned what started as a routine traffic stop into a drug-related arrest. Reno now faces multiple charges, including smuggling a controlled substance and possession of fentanyl. Following her arrest, she was booked into jail and later released on a bond of $11,500.
