The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M couldn’t find the net on Thursday night, falling 4-0 against Simon Fraser at the Toyota Soccer Complex in Frisco, Texas.

The first half saw WT create early pressure, with Ben Scotford testing Simon Fraser’s goalkeeper, Jordan Thorsen, with two attempts saved in the first ten minutes. Despite their attacking attempts, Simon Fraser took advantage of their opportunities, breaking the deadlock in the 37th minute with a goal from Koji Poon.

They increased their lead immediately after, with Michael Hennessy scoring his second goal in the 41st minute, assisted by Luis Klimo. The Buffs continued to press, but the half ended with Simon Fraser ahead 2-0.

Simon Fraser increased their lead early in the second half, with a goal by Poon in the 55th minute, making the score 3-0. Despite numerous tries, including a wide-range shot by Dylan Cabrera in the 50th minute, the Buffs were unable to score.

Zach Kos made a critical save for the Buffs in the 57th minute, saving Hennessy’s effort from the bottom right corner.

Simon Fraser converted a corner kick in the 75th minute, with Kundalini Bien-Aimé scoring with an assist from Kian Proctor, to make the score 4-0. The half finished with the Buffs failing to convert their opportunities into goals.

Scotford led the team in shots, with three attempts and two on goal. Arthur Macri contributed offensively with three shots, one of which was on goal. Kos, in goal, made two saves in 90 minutes while facing eight shots in total.

Poon led Simon Fraser with two goals, one of which was the game winner, from two shots on goal. Hennessy scored one goal and led the squad with four total shots, three of which were on target.

Bien-Aimé scored another goal with his sole shot of the game. Thorsen was solid in goal, making three stops over 90 minutes to secure the shutout.

The Buffs conclude their non-conference campaign on Saturday afternoon, when they face St. Martin’s at 12:00 p.m. at the Toyota Soccer Complex in Frisco. The Saints won their first game of the season on Thursday, defeating UT Tyler 1-0.
