Through five District 12-5A matchups, the pack has continued to separate.

Except for Creekview, which swept Turner, the three Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD schools were unable to secure a win. Wakeland and Lone Star both rebounded from Friday defeats with strong Tuesday victories, while The Colony finds itself in the middle of the pack under a first-year coach.

Highland Park and Reedy both had 2-0 weeks, with the Lady Lions upsetting Lone Star in four on Friday (25-19, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18). They followed up with a sweep of Newman Smith (25-7, 25-10, 25-12) thanks to a trio of influences throughout the court.

Camryn Corso, Mariah Akinsola, and Charlie Henderson had 59 kills, 26 digs, and 49 serves received this week.

Akinsola and Henderson lead the team in kills this year, with 170 and 142, respectively, with Corso contributing 85. Akinsola has 39 blocks, while Henderson has 233 serves received.

Since the start of district play, Lone Star has alternated wins and defeats. This includes Friday’s four-set loss to Reedy (25-19, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18) and Tuesday’s sweep of Turner (25-3, 25-9, 25-10). Lyla Crowder, a junior, topped the team in kills and aces in their most recent win.

She also led the match with five blocks, four digs, two assists, and two serves received. The Colony’s had the opposite experience this week, sweeping Newman Smith on Friday (25-22, 25-14, 25-17), but were unable to extend their winning streak to two after losing to Highland Park in straight sets.

Senior Triniti Reagor recorded 14 kills in the Smith match, while junior Teagan Hubbard contributed 26 assists.
