By the conclusion of the week, only one undefeated team will remain in District 9-5A volleyball, with McKinney North and Prosper Walnut Grove facing off on Friday.
The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Wildcats stay unbeaten at 5-0 after defeating perennial powerhouse Lovejoy in five sets.
North defeated the Lady Leopards on Tuesday, coming back from a 2-1 set hole to win their 11th straight match (25-22, 15-25, 17-25, 25-22, 15-10).
Junior Nicole Jacobson led the Lady Bulldogs with a match-high 17 kills and five shot blocks. Sophomore Anna Sayman had 14 kills for North, and senior Chloe Lewis contributed seven of her team’s 16 blocks in a five-set battle.
Lovejoy, meantime, had three hitters in double figures: junior Holland Hutchins (15 kills), senior Skylar Jackson (14) and senior Bella Lopez (13) combined for 42 kills on the night.
Jackson had a double-double with 13 digs, as did the team’s two setters, senior Emerson Boyd (17 digs, 25 assists) and sophomore Camryn Penn (14 digs, 20 assists).
The setback lowered Lovejoy to fourth place in 9-5A at 3-2, with a vital match against third-place Melissa scheduled for Friday.

Walnut Grove won five sets over Lovejoy on Friday and then defeated Sherman in three sets on Tuesday. Sophomore Kyndall Smith led the offense with 10 kills and three blocks, while senior Danielle Whitmire tallied 13 assists, nine digs, eight aces, and six kills to keep the Lady Wildcats undefeated in district play.
