A McKinney man was indicted after a traffic check in Jefferson County yielded over 400 grams of Codeine and a firearm.
On September 17, a Jefferson County grand jury indicted the 28-year-old guy for possessing more than 400 grams of a prohibited drug.
On February 17, just before 9:25 a.m., a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Detective was patrolling when he pulled over an SUV on Interstate 10 westbound that was going 70 mph in a 55 mph construction zone and had an expired license plate, according to a police report from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office stated that after making contact with the suspect and the 32-year-old driver, the officer smelt marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
According to the investigation, both males had inconsistent accounts about where they came from, where they stayed, how long they were there, and where they were heading.
A basic check on both men revealed that the driver had an outstanding felony narcotics warrant out of Travis County.
A probable cause search led the detective to a rucksack on the right rear passenger seat containing a Glock 43 handgun, a 9×19, and over 400 grams of Codeine in various bottles, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Both males denied knowing anything about the bag or its contents.
According to the report, the 28-year-old gave the detective a bag of marijuana he was carrying before being arrested.
Both guys were detained for possessing a controlled drug in excess of 400 grams and illegally carrying a handgun as a felon.
