San Antonio experienced an especially violent weekend resulting in four fatalities and at least six people hospitalized from gunshot wounds. The shootings occurred within about 48 hours across various parts of the city.
Highlighted incidents included a deadly shooting at an apartment complex on San Fernando Street related to a feud, another shooting at an apartment complex on Callaghan Road leaving two men dead, and a shooting at a downtown parking garage near The Shops at Rivercenter resulting in one death and multiple injuries.
Police described these incidents as isolated and stated that the city remains safe with homicide rates slightly down compared to last year. Community members expressed concern about rising gun violence and emphasized the need for communal healing and prayers for safety.
Vehicle Crash Into North Side Clothing Store
On September 21, 2025, a 61-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle and crashed through the front of a clothing store on the North Side of San Antonio near E. Basse Road.
She subsequently backed out and struck multiple vehicles in the parking lot, involving a total of three cars. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and there was no major structural damage. Police are not filing charges against the driver.
Police Response and Community Safety Efforts
San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) continues active engagement in maintaining safety, responding promptly to incidents, and encouraging community cooperation through Crime Stoppers, which provides anonymous tips and potential rewards for information leading to felony arrests.
While violent incidents have occurred recently, official SAPD statements emphasize ongoing efforts and overall downward crime trends in key categories like homicides and crimes against persons.
