A man died after being shot by deputies in Channelview on Friday evening, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a disturbance on 719 Sheldon Road at 6:20 p.m. on Friday.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, deputies got numerous calls ranging from someone breaking into vehicles to shattering windows in various apartment units.

When deputies arrived, they discovered a male with a sharp object, who refused to cooperate with law enforcement despite verbal demands and fled.

Law enforcement believes that at some time, the individual began moving toward the deputies, prompting both deputies to discharge their firearms.

EMS came on the site and began administering life-saving treatments to the victim. According to authorities, the individual was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

There were no reported injuries to the two deputies in the event. Officials stated that there was no threat to the neighborhood.
