Bexar County, Texas — An inmate at the Bexar County Jail is expected to recover after being discovered comatose in his cell following a medical incident.
According to a statement released Tuesday by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy discovered the body earlier in the morning while conducting observation checks.
A correctional doctor promptly administered life-saving procedures, and the convict began breathing on his own. Additional facility medical professionals assisted in stabilizing him until EMS from the San Antonio Fire Department arrived.
SAFD acknowledged that they were dispatched shortly after 10 a.m. for a possible cardiac arrest. EMS brought the inmate to University Hospital for additional treatment.
According to BCSO, the medical crisis may have been caused by a pre-existing medical issue that was revealed prior to his entry into jail.
