Victoria, Texas – The Victoria Fire Department will hold its annual fire prevention performances in October at the Victoria Fine Arts Center, 1002 Sam Houston Drive. The performances will take place at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on October 7 and 8, and at 9 a.m. on October 9.
The subject for this year’s Fire Prevention Week is “Power Up into Fire Prevention: Lithium-Ion Battery Safety in Your Home.”
The shows will incorporate characters from famous children’s television series while imparting fire safety guidelines.
Many of the everyday products that children use contain lithium-ion batteries, such as phones, tablets, and other household electronics. The Victoria Fire Department, in conjunction with the National Fire Protection Association, reminds residents to follow these safety guidelines:
Purchase only certified gadgets, and seek for safety certification on the package.
Use the charger that came with the device to avoid overcharging and only charge on hard surfaces.
Use designated battery drop-off locations to properly recycle your gadgets.
