On Thursday, Officer Brooke Schwausch of the Deer Park Police Department was involved in a severe car accident while on her way to work.
According to a Facebook post by the Baytown Municipal Police Association, Schwausch sustained multiple injuries, including broken bones “from head to toe,” and will require “countless stitches” in addition to several surgeries for her recovery.
Ongoing Recovery
Schwausch’s recovery will be a long one, and her husband, a fellow police officer in Baytown, will be missing work to care for her during this challenging time.
Community Support
In response to the accident, the Deer Park community has rallied behind Schwausch. A GoFundMe campaign created by her brother has already raised nearly $9,000 to help cover her medical expenses as she continues her recovery.
