Two Florida brothers will never walk free again after being sentenced to life in prison for a brutal murder they carried out just to gain so-called “street credibility.” What began as an online conversation turned into a deadly trap for an innocent young man who believed he was meeting someone he could trust.

Brothers Sentenced to Life in Prison

Angel Lobato, 23, and Jo Lobato, 24, were found guilty of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and other charges in connection with the 2020 killing of 21-year-old Danne Frazier. While Jo was sentenced in November, Angel received his life sentence only recently. Both will spend the rest of their lives behind bars.

How the Deadly Plot Began

Prosecutors revealed that Jo Lobato started chatting with Frazier online about a month before the crime. Pretending to be interested in a romantic relationship, he lured Frazier into a false sense of trust.

However, the real plan was much darker. The brothers had targeted Frazier because they saw him as “easy prey” and wanted to rob and kill him to earn “stripes” or credibility on the streets.

The Night of the Murder

The brothers tricked Frazier into meeting Jo at Central Park in Winter Haven after his work shift. While Jo distracted Frazier by pretending to lean in for a kiss, Angel hid behind a tree with a baseball bat, ready to attack. Frazier fought back, but Jo overpowered him by choking him.

According to police, the brothers then forced Frazier into his car. Angel brutally attacked him with the baseball bat before cutting his neck several times with a knife. The horrifying attack ended with them driving the victim to a wooded area on Helicopter Road in Lake Wales, where they dumped his body and tried to cover it with branches.

Discovery and Arrest

Frazier’s mother reported him missing on November 4, 2020. A week later, workers doing an environmental study came across his remains in the overgrown area. Within 10 days of the body being found, police tracked down and arrested the Lobato brothers.

Sheriff’s Statement on the Case

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd called the brothers “pure evil in the flesh.” He described Frazier as a kind and trusting young man who was only trying to comfort someone he thought cared for him. The sheriff strongly condemned the senseless killing, offering his condolences to Frazier’s grieving family.

The shocking case of Angel and Jo Lobato shows how dangerous online traps can be and how far some people will go for meaningless “street credibility.” While justice has been served with life sentences for the brothers, the tragedy has left a permanent scar on the family and friends of Danne Frazier.

His story is a painful reminder of the need for caution when forming connections online and the devastating impact of senseless violence.
