After Kroger closed its store in Dickinson in June, the owners of the property are now exploring new options for the space. The property, which is owned by Amirco Properties, is expected to house a national brand soon. The owner and developer, Amir Zakhireh, confirmed that several businesses have shown interest in the location.

Zakhireh shared that he would prefer to bring a grocery store to the spot, as he believes it would meet the community’s needs and “make everyone happy.”
However, he is also considering a soft goods store that could sell items like clothing, home goods, and other similar products. This would require some changes to the building, but it is still being considered as a viable option.
Why Did Kroger Leave?
Kroger had been at this location for over 40 years, but the grocery chain decided to leave after both parties failed to agree on a new lease. This decision marked the end of an era for the store, which had been an important part of the Dickinson community for decades.

Zakhireh did not provide a specific timeline for when a new lease might be signed, but he is hopeful it will happen within the next six to 10 months. If a grocery store moves in, the opening could be quick, taking just two to four months after the lease is finalized. However, if the space is turned into a soft goods store, more time would be needed to make necessary changes to the building.
