Frisco ISD buildings will no longer be open only to K-12 students. With the extension of FISD’s Pre-K program, students as young as four years old can now attend school all day, every day, and start their academic journey.

FISD’s program is divided into two categories: state-funded Pre-K and tuition-based Pre-K.

To qualify for the state-funded program, students must either:

Use a language proficiency assessment to demonstrate limited English proficiency.

Be low-income (with appropriate paperwork such as tax returns, proof of child support payments, pay stubs, and TANF or SNAP eligibility letters).

Be homeless (as defined by the McKinney-Vento Act).

Be a member of an active military family.

Be a member of an inactive military family whose father was injured or killed in active service.

Participate in the foster care system at any stage of their lives.

Have a parent been deemed qualified for the Star of Texas Award between 2004 and the award ceremony of the current year?

Students who are not eligible for the free, state-funded program can nonetheless participate in the tuition-based program.

Students wishing to enroll in the tuition-based program must live within FISD bounds (although out-of-district families may submit an interest form), be four years old on or before September 1 of the school year (applies to state-funded programs as well), and be potty trained.

Tuition for the program is $678 per month, and lessons begin on October 6 at certain elementary school locations.

Pre-k students at elementary campuses will begin their day at 7:45 a.m. and end at 3:05 p.m., while kids at the Early Childhood School will begin at 7:40 a.m. and end at 3:00.

“Frisco ISD’s program gives our youngest learners the best possible start, helping them walk into kindergarten confident and ready to shine,” assistant director of early development Melissa Ellis stated in a FISD press statement.

“Strong early learning experiences not only improve children’s academic performance, but also foster independence and a love of school. Families can also connect with Frisco ISD from the start, fostering a long-term partnership. In the end, it’s about preparing pupils for success.
