Centennial’s National Honor Society (NHS) has 517 members, making it one of the school’s largest activities. Throughout the year, the organization strives to give back to the community and make Frisco a better place. In addition, there are always opportunities for members to participate in enjoyable community events.
On September 17, NHS held its first social of the year, NHS Game Show Night, a staff-versus-students event held after school in the library.
It included classic game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, as well as awards for the winning teams and dinner for all competitors. The event was totally officer-led, with cops filling various roles throughout the night.
“I liked the theatrics of setting it up, getting music and a slideshow that paid homage to the original game shows, was a fun, creative challenge,” Grayson Bell, Senior Officer, said.
The night began with Jeopardy, which foreshadowed how the remainder of the night would unfold. The professors were able to obtain an advantage in points due to their teaching positions and global knowledge, much to the pupils’ dismay.
“I do not believe it was cheating. Mr. Davenport explained that adults had lived longer lives and gained more experience and information than the average youngster.
The pupils strove to catch up, earning points in pop culture and history. When the game concluded, the staff had the lead, but the student teams were quickly catching up. The pupils had greater success on Wheel of Fortune, with their teams winning more rounds and earning more points.
Despite their efforts, the children were unable to outscore the staff, and the teachers eventually won Game Show Night.
