Following Tuesday’s matches, District 6-6A volleyball reached halfway through its lengthy schedule, with the top four teams separated by only one game.

While incumbent league champion Plano West leads the table at 7-1, there isn’t much room for mistake, with Plano, Plano East, and Allen all tied for second place at 6-2.

The Lady Wildcats were the only team in the district to defeat the Lady Wolves, and while Plano had lost two of three matches entering the week, it finished the first leg of the 6-6A round robin in a landslide on Tuesday with a three-set victory over Prosper Rock Hill.

Plano’s 36 kills were split among 10 different student-athletes in the triumph, with senior Destiny Seward leading the way with nine. The LSU pledge hit.643 in the match and added three blocks, while sophomore Trinity Ellis had six kills on.308 hitting.

QUICK HITS

Allen improved to 6-2 in the district after defeating McKinney Boyd in three sets on Tuesday (25-16, 25-17, 25-21). Sophomore Olivia Kitur led the way with 16 kills, while senior Kennedy Crayton contributed 10 and a team-high 13 digs.

Plano East has the district’s longest active victory streak, having won five straight games to finish the first half of its 6-6A season. Following a critical victory over Plano, the Lady Panthers swept McKinney on Tuesday (25-14, 25-18, 25-23). Outside of the district’s top four, Prosper is the next closest rival at 4-4 and fifth place.

The Lady Eagles will enter the second half of their 6-6A season having won four of their previous five, including a straight-set victory against Princeton on Tuesday.
