Firefighters in Denton County performed a dramatic rescue Monday afternoon after a vehicle became stranded in fast-moving water.
Officials say the man ignored road obstacles on C. Wolfe Road in Ponder and drove into high water, leaving his car stuck. Crews tossed him a rope and then a life vest, allowing him to crawl to safety on top of a fire engine.
However, once the motorist was safe, Denton County authorities arrested him on counts of ignoring high-water obstacles, which can result in heavy penalties.
Authorities are advising vehicles not to ignore road restrictions, and that “turn around, don’t drown” is more than just a slogan; it can save your life.
