Webster’s Cinemark movie theater might get a $16 million facelift next year, complete with a restaurant, bar, arcade, laser tag, bowling, and event space, according to plans filed with the state last week.

The project involves renovations as well as the creation of a venue known as the “Gamescape,” which is an entertainment facility that also serves as a movie theater.

Cinemark’s Gamescape has one facility in El Paso, which includes a ropes course and a climbing wall, and plans were filed last year to open another in Greenville, north Texas.

“It’s perfect for rainy days, birthday parties, team building, or ‘just because,'” the Cinemark website boasts of the Gamescape. “Whether you’re chasing a rush or just looking to unwind, Gamescape is your new go-to spot.”

Cinemark filed plans for Webster on Friday, which will extend the city’s NASA and XD theaters at 20915 Gulf Freeway. According to the blueprints presented to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the project would begin next February and may be completed by November 2026.

The state application states that the project would improve the theater’s interior, concession area, auditoriums, and finishes.
