A new memorial in Frisco honors US military heroes who have received the Purple Heart.

The Purple Heart Monument is situated in the Frisco Veterans Memorial at Frisco Commons Park. On September 20, city leaders and veterans unveiled and dedicated the monument.

The Purple Heart is presented in the president’s name to soldiers who are wounded or killed while serving in the United States military.

The memorial itself is about five feet tall and features a Purple Heart Medallion as well as handwritten remarks. There are two smaller statues next to the monument, each with twin sentinel soldiers standing guard.

Frisco Commons Park is home to the Frisco Veterans Memorial, which includes the Walk of Honor, a Battlefield Cross, the Gold Star Family Memorial Monument, a WWII Flyboy statue, and several explanatory plaques about wars and conflicts since Frisco’s establishment in 1902.

One of the plaques recalls the city’s 2017 designation as a Purple Heart City.

8000 McKinney Road, Frisco.
