Allen will celebrate its annual Allen Recycles Day on Saturday, November 1 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Allen Municipal Service Center, located at 900 S. Greenville Avenue.
The event provides Allen solid waste utility customers with a convenient way to dispose of acceptable items for recycling and donations. The event will continue in the rain, but may be interrupted due to thunder or lightning.
Participants must have a recent City of Allen utility bill displayed in their windshield and a driver’s license with the same address as the bill.
Accepted donations include:
Animal donations include pet goods, toys, carriers, unused pet food, nutrients, medical dips, washing detergent, and towels.
Bicycles include tricycles and bicycle accessories.
Shoes: Any sort of footwear.
General donations include eyeglasses, household items, clean bagged clothing and accessories, books, DVDs, toys, working televisions and electronics (but no tube or rear projection TVs or monitors), walkers, rollators, wheelchairs, crutches, shower chairs, tub transfer benches, and IV poles.
Electronics include laptops, tablets, printers, ink cartridges, copy machines, fax machines, answering machines, flat-screen televisions, computer displays, computer towers, and accessories.
Before disposing of any equipment, participants must erase all data from it. No tube or rear-projection televisions or CRT computer monitors will be accepted.

Please use only clean, empty, flattened cardboard boxes. Paper to shred (maximum five file-sized boxes or 12-16 gallon plastic trash bags; remove all binders and clips) Prescription and non-prescription pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter medications, and sharps can be disposed of discreetly at the drive-thru drop-off
Bulk trash, metals, batteries, tires, chemicals, loose brush, and home improvement waste are not accepted.
