A man died after Frisco police say he approached them with a knife in his hand on Thursday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the 8000 block of McKinney Road shortly before 10 a.m. to conduct a welfare check on a man who was armed and injuring himself.
Officers found the suspect, 31-year-old Logan Holliday of Frisco, in a forested area on the north side of Frisco Commons Park.
When officers approached Holliday, they claim he advanced towards them with a knife. Police claim they gave Holliday verbal commands to halt, but he didn’t. Officers said they had to open fire on Holliday out of concern for their lives.
He was sent to a local hospital but subsequently died.
The Texas Rangers are currently investigating the shooting.
