The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats’ three-game winning streak was interrupted Friday when they lost four sets on the road to the Caddo Mills Lady Foxes. Despite playing well at times, the Lady Wildcats were outplayed for the majority of the game and finished empty-handed.
Despite the setback, the Lady Wildcats had one reason to celebrate: senior outside hitter Rainey Johnson earned 1,000 career kills.
The first set was high-scoring, with both teams vying for early dominance. Despite a strong effort by the Lady Wildcats, the Lady Foxes took the first set 25-21, grabbing an early advantage.
In the second set, the Lady Wildcats ramped up their game, determined not to lose the match. Sulphur Springs won the second set 25-15, leveling the match at 1-1.
The Lady Wildcats struggled greatly in the third set, while the Lady Foxes stepped up their game. Caddo Mills cruised to a 25-10 triumph in the third set to go ahead 2-1.
The fourth set was another back-and-forth affair, with the Lady Foxes looking to end the game and the Lady Wildcats trying to stay alive. In the end, the Lady Foxes defeated the Lady Wildcats in four sets, 25-20.
With the loss, the Lady Wildcats fell to 19-8 on the season. They returned to action Tuesday, welcoming the Prairieland Lady Patriots to Wildcat Gym.
