According to the Greenville Herald-Banner, Hunt County Judge Bobby Stovall declared this week that he will not run for reelection when his current term expires in 2026.
Stovall, who was appointed by the Commissioners Court in January 2019 after the death of Judge John L. Horn, ran unopposed in the 2022 election.
“Serving as Hunt County Judge has been an immense honor and privilege,” Stovall stated in a statement. He also stated that, after “careful and considered reflection,” he intends to leave public life to spend more time with his wife, family, and golf clubs.
Candidates for the available seat are anticipated to file soon.
