Victoria, Texas – A neighborhood citizen is dissatisfied with the current state of a roadway under construction near Riverside Park.

Patrick Hathaway reported the area near McCright St. as “a mess” while watching at least four workers.

The city’s project includes totally repairing the road from McCright to Mockingbird Lane. The plans include removing the old pavement, strengthening the base, creating a support grid, adding a layer of limestone, sealing it, and finally placing a new layer of asphalt.

Hathaway stated that the road is deteriorating, with asphalt breaking through the surface. “How long before this turns into a massive pothole that damages a vehicle? He said, “Just get it fixed; it’s dangerous if it’s not.”

He further stated that if the repairs are not completed correctly, weather may cause potholes to form, potentially damaging tires.

In addition to the complete reconstruction from McCright St. to Mockingbird Ln., the city will install a new asphalt overlay from McCright St. to Red River St.
