Victoria, Texas – Several arrests have been made at Victoria ISD schools in recent weeks following bogus claims of weapons threats on campus.

School Resource Officers of the Victoria County Sheriffs typically receive the first reports of threats before conducting a more complete investigation.

Sheriff Justin Marr says the district cannot afford to be lenient when it comes to threats on campus. The VCSO’s stringent zero-tolerance policy demonstrates their dedication to providing a safe environment for pupils.

The agency reacted to three bogus reports on September 15. Each incident resulted in a pupil being arrested and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. Sheriff Marr said he hopes parents have difficult conversations with their children about the terrible implications of false reports, threats, and even ‘jokes.’

Sheriff Marr says children who report in good faith will not be punished.
