In a strange but serious incident, a man in Prince George, British Columbia was arrested after police caught him driving a pink child-size Barbie Jeep under the influence. What started off as a comical sight quickly turned into a dangerous situation that drew the attention of local law enforcement.

Toy Car on the Road Sparks Concern

The event took place around 9 a.m. on September 5, when the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) received reports of a man cruising down a busy road — not in a real car, but in a child’s battery-operated toy vehicle.

Though it may have seemed like a joke to some, the RCMP took the situation seriously. Officers said the man was putting both himself and other drivers at risk, as motorists are not used to watching for toy cars on main roads. The need for other drivers to swerve around the toy car on a busy street made it a traffic hazard.

RCMP Media Relations Officer Cpl. Jennifer Cooper explained:

“While it might seem to some to be an inefficient use of police time to pull over a driver in a toy car, the risk… was enough to warrant police attention.”

Who Was Behind the Wheel?

The man was later identified as Kasper Lincoln. Upon investigation, police discovered that Lincoln had a suspended driver’s license and was also under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time. He was arrested for prohibited driving.

Photos and Public Reaction

Photos taken by bystanders show Lincoln wearing reflective sunglasses, smiling as he rode down the street in the bright pink toy car. One photo even shows a police car following him before he is eventually seen being handcuffed.

Despite the surreal nature of the incident, the legal consequences are very real. Lincoln now faces a driving under the influence (DUI) charge and has said he plans to fight it, claiming he didn’t realize what he was doing was illegal.

Lincoln’s Side of the Story

Speaking to CBC after his release, Lincoln said he had originally planned to walk to meet a friend for a Slurpee, but “got lazy” and decided to borrow his roommate’s kid’s Barbie Jeep instead.

“I never drove it before,” he said, laughing. He also added, “I was using the hand signals and everything.”

Even so, Lincoln had no hard feelings toward the arresting officer, telling CBC:

“He was really nice. He was filling out all this paperwork, saying, ‘This is my first time!’”

Don’t Drink and Drive — Even in a Toy Car

While the story has drawn laughs online, it also carries an important reminder. Lincoln himself summed it up by saying:

Don’t drink and drive.

Even if it’s not a full-sized vehicle, operating any vehicle while impaired — including toy ones — can still land you in legal trouble. This case may be light-hearted in appearance, but it underlines a very serious issue about safety and responsibility on the roads.
