Tulsa, OK – Residents across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas should prepare for a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in Tulsa.

Thunderstorm Chances and Timing

The agency reports that from 3 p.m. to midnight Sunday, low thunderstorm chances will develop, primarily northwest of I-44. Forecast models indicate a 10–20% chance of storms in that area, with less than a 10% risk elsewhere in eastern Oklahoma, northwest Arkansas, and central Arkansas.

No Severe Weather Expected, But Caution Advised

Meteorologists have stated that severe weather is not expected with this system. However, brief gusty winds, lightning, and isolated heavy downpours could accompany the strongest cells.

The NWS advised, “Remain alert for changing conditions,” reminding drivers to avoid flooded roads and urging residents to stay indoors if thunder is heard.

Warm Temperatures and Shifting Conditions

Forecasters also noted that unseasonably warm temperatures will persist into early this week. By mid- to late week, temperatures are expected to cool toward seasonal averages, with increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms returning to the region.

Monitor Weather Updates

Travelers and outdoor planners are urged to monitor updated forecasts, as the timing and coverage of storms may shift with developing conditions.
