Motel Employee Accused of Capital Murder
Dallas police have charged 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez with capital murder in the death of 50-year-old motel manager Chandra Nagamallaiah. The brutal attack happened around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at a motel on Samuell Boulevard in East Dallas.
Argument Over Washing Machine Escalates
According to an arrest affidavit, Nagamallaiah told another employee to translate his request that Cobos-Martinez not use a broken washing machine. The remark reportedly enraged Cobos-Martinez, who left the room, returned with a machete, and began attacking the manager.
Witnesses Describe Gruesome Scene
Bystanders said Nagamallaiah tried to escape but fell as Cobos-Martinez struck him repeatedly. “He just kept hitting him and hitting until he decapitated him,” eyewitness Stephanie Elliott told WFAA. “I could not believe that anybody would do another human being that way.”
Police documents state that after beheading the victim, Cobos-Martinez allegedly kicked the head into the parking lot before dumping it in a dumpster.
Family Tried to Save Victim
The victim’s wife and son, who were in the motel office, attempted to intervene with a bat but were unable to stop the fatal assault.

Property owners told NBC 5 that Nagamallaiah had worked as a manager for two to three years and was known as a hardworking, dedicated employee. His sudden and violent death has left his family, coworkers, and community in shock.
