A Minnesota man accused of attempting to drown his mother and sister in Otter Tail Lake has reportedly blamed a drug-infused THC seltzer for his violent actions. Franklin Dickinson, 42, allegedly tried to strangle and drown his 64-year-old mother and 25-year-old sister during a disturbing incident on the lake.

Attempted Drowning and Violent Outburst

According to local reports, Dickinson held his sister underwater until she lost consciousness and dragged his mother by the hair when she tried to intervene. Deputies arrived at the scene following a 911 call and found the victims with injuries.

One victim reportedly sustained injuries to her neck and collarbone, while the other described being dragged under a dock before being rescued by a neighbor.

Dickinson’s Defense: A Bad Reaction to THC Drink

When questioned by deputies, Dickinson allegedly claimed he was having a bad reaction to a THC seltzer drink, which he said caused his violent outburst. Despite his defense, Dickinson now faces serious charges including second-degree attempted murder, domestic assault by strangulation, and domestic assault causing fear.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Dickinson was initially charged with assault and domestic assault, but the charges have been upgraded to more severe offenses. He remains in custody at the Otter Tail County Jail, with a hearing scheduled for September 15.
