A 27-year-old woman from Florida is facing serious charges after allegedly flooding a local police department with violent threats on social media. The woman, Emily Staten, is accused of sending over 200 disturbing messages to the Sebring Police Department, including death threats and a video of herself near the police station.

This alarming situation unfolded over just a few hours and has raised concerns about the misuse of social media to make threats against law enforcement.

What Happened on Friday Evening

On Friday evening, Sebring police were alerted to threatening messages and a video posted by Emily Staten on Facebook Messenger. According to authorities, she posted around 200 messages in just four hours, many of which were threats of violence and death aimed directly at police officers.

Some of the messages included warnings like:

“This is a threat come find me I want to kill you.”

“Come get shot, I am making a threat against the Sebring Police Department.”

“If you don’t want me to throw Molotov cocktails through the downtown department, respond now.”

“I hid all the bottles of gas all around the building.”

Due to the extreme nature of her messages, police launched an immediate investigation.

Shocking Video Evidence Sent to Police

Along with the messages, Staten also allegedly sent a video of herself driving by the Sebring Police Department. In the video, a woman off-camera (alleged to be Staten) can be heard mocking officers and making violent comments.

She says, “Hey fat piggies, you see? How lovely would it be to throw a Molotov cocktail through that window?”

Another voice in the car, believed to be a man, is heard trying to calm her down, saying “Babe, babe.”

Police shared this footage as part of their case, though many of the messages were deemed too vulgar to release publicly.

Charges Filed Against Emily Staten

Staten has been charged with:

Sending a written threat to kill

Using a two-way communication device to commit a felony

Threatening a law enforcement officer with death or serious harm

She was arrested on Friday and is currently being held on a $63,000 bond.

No Known Motive Yet

As of now, police have not released any clear motive behind Staten’s actions. It is unknown why she targeted the department or what caused her to send the violent threats.

The Sebring Police Department, which serves a small town of about 12,000 people in central Florida, responded by reinforcing their stance on public safety.

“We support free speech,” the department said, “but when speech turns into threats of violence, we will act swiftly. Threats to kill or do harm will not be tolerated.”

This case shows how quickly things can escalate online, especially when people use social media to spread fear or make violent threats. While everyone has the right to free speech, making threats—especially toward law enforcement—is a serious crime.

Emily Staten’s case will now proceed through the legal system, and her actions serve as a reminder that threats, even through a screen, come with real-world consequences.
